About Me

I love sweet and delicious desserts! I also love being  a part of celebrations that mark the milestones in other’s lives using my artistic talents in making beautiful cakes. I have a beautiful kitchen in which I enjoy folding egg whites into cake batter and kneading colorful fondant. I have found this time with these skills to be very meditative. There is nothing more relaxing after a busy day than to make a batch of lemon curd! Yum!

I first learned my love of baking from my mom on the family farm where I grew up in Nebraska. My baking career began when I was 7 years old and I wanted to make my mother a birthday cake. I remember that it took quite a long time to bake the cake, so it was pretty late at night before I started the decorating. I remember it was dark in the kitchen so mom wouldn’t see the finished cake until I was ready. The picture of the cake shows a cake pretty lopsided but there was piped decorations and lots of color. Mom looked pleased with her cake, so this was a confirmed success for me.

When I’m not baking, I enjoy riding my bike, yoga, gardening, and painting with my husband, Tom. We both have college degrees in art, so we have fun being creative together.
