Wedding Cake and Cupcake Display

Lincoln Nebraska Bakery | S’more Cake | Wedding Cake and Desserts

S’more Cake, a Lincoln Nebraska Bakery, is featuring a new design for wedding cakes and tasty desserts this spring. This design is a beautiful display that features both a small wedding cake and matching assorted cake desserts on a glass tower. This display would allow guests to enjoy the attractive appearance of the cake table design from all sides and to choose the flavor of their choice. The guests would also have the option to enjoy the dessert later or allow them take it home if they wish. Small boxes can be supplied by S’more Cake with an attached note from the bride and groom as a parting gift, thanking the guests for sharing this special day with them.

This display could be the center focus on a playful candy table,  chocolate fountain feature, or hors d’oeuvres station. Cupcakes are very popular with all age groups and easy to maintain for service staff.

In this display, I have created five different cupcake ribbon and floral designs on the bottom tier, with the petite fours on the second tier topped with a single rose bud of the same pink and light green. I love the combination of these spring colors of the wedding cake. I used flavored fondant over the top of a buttercream base in the overall cake design. This design can also be created with buttercream and royal icing for the bride who would prefer this over the fondant.

I enjoyed putting this design together and hope that you enjoy the pictures of it as well.

Weddings are a specialty for S’more Cake, a Lincoln Nebraska Bakery. This week I am featuring a two tiered wedding cake with flavored fondant. The first fondant covers a layer of rich raspberry creamed buttercream frosting. It is a beautiful light warm aqua fondant. There is  three hand made roses in “Early Spring” pink with a matching bow ribbon on top. I have added a  single ribbon of white fondant to frame the top tier. It was fun to design this cake around the ornate floral appliqués of the top tier. The aqua rosette at the center is framed with scrolls that resemble various designs. I repeat the ribbon design in the bottom tier with horizontal lines to tie the design of this cake together. This pleasing design would suit a bride that is very particular with the details of her wedding. It is very detailed, yet very romantic as well for her wedding. The anniversary cake was not included in the design of this cake. It would be safely vacuumed packaged to be stored away ahead of time and saved for the bride and groom at their first anniversary. This anniversary cake would carry over the same design elements. It would be a fond memory as they remember their important day.

When deciding the design of her cake, each bride should keep in mind that the focus of the wedding reception can be featured around the design of the cake.  How it fits into the overall ambiance of her wedding reception. Whether it is set up traditional or contemporary, playful or formal, the cake display table can feature and set the tone for her wedding photography as well as how the reception is successfully handled.

S’more Cake, a Lincoln Nebraska Bakery, has experience in various wedding reception venues.  It would be an honor to help any bride make her wedding day a very wonderful memory.

I have enjoyed designing wedding cakes for Lincoln Nebraska Bakery during my time with Niki of Nicolette Dixon Photography in North Salt Lake City. My daughter Niki has a photography business and does fantastic work with her portrait and wedding photography. She did my wedding pictures and I treasure them very much. I am very proud of her talent and appreciated all of her help. She encouraged me as we worked side by side during the four weeks I was there, designing my web site and Facebook business page. She has a “good eye” and I trust her judgement completely. We had a lot of fun exchanging ideas and I had the best time with her.

It was her encouragement several weeks ago and her help that I was able to take a leap of faith in working towards a dream of mine to design wedding cakes in a business venture of my own. The timing was right for me to start this adventure now and she prompted me forward. I will always be very grateful for her advice.

The design of this cake was a lot of fun, with a fondant ribbon on the top and on the first tier. This ribbon was the most challenging element in this design. Getting the fondant at just the right texture and consistency was a challenge, but one that I was able to complete to my satisfaction. The color of the fondant is a beautiful tangerine color and the flavoring is my favorite lemon. The fondant is put on top of a crumb coating of buttercream. The cake is a vanilla cake and filled with raspberry and limeade cream cheese. The cake design is more formal and would be lovely in any wedding venue.

The design of the spring fondant ruffle cake was a lot of fun to do and reminds me of the arrival of spring  and the anticipations of  new beginnings of the year. As a cake from Lincoln Nebraska Bakery, it would be ideal for the early spring bride. The cake is a traditional vanilla buttercream cake with raspberry buttercream filling, covered with a buttercream base, lemon fondant and ruffles made with sugar gum paste. It would be lovely as a bridal shower cake or baby shower cake as well.

Alexa had been planning her wedding since she was young, so she had definite ideas what she wanted. One thing she was very clear about was she wanted peonies to be the prominent flower in her bouquet and so I added them to her cake as well. There were pink peonies everywhere! We had planned on 4 tiers of vanilla wedding cake with limeade cream cheese filling on top of raspberry puree and frosted with buttercream white chocolate. I added pillars between two of the tiers and she picked out a topper of a silver M and I added some stemmed crystals. It was an beautiful hors d’oeuvres reception with a chocolate fountain and was held at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln, Nebraska.
